UKONLINE TO SKY

[link to this post]

I have just tried again to migrate to Sky and they are now accepting my MAC codes from UKOnline, but guess what? They are now stating that the maximum that Sky will give me is 512K HUHHHH. Considering UKonline currently give me a 2 MEG line. Are they stupid or something as UKOnline have also stated that the maximum my line can have is 4.5 meg.

The Sky Customer service lady stated that we check the BT line checker and the thats the best you can support, and I stated that UKOnline is your company and they are already giving me 2meg line and my line can get 4.5meg. But with no joy as she said 512k is the best they will give me. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Anyone offer any advice on what I should do?

How do you signup online, do you have a link?

And what will that achieve? as they use the rubbish BT checker.

You get it from www.sky.com. It's treated as a package upgrade. I signed up this way and all BT checkers say the say the same thing for my line (yes to 0.5Mbps, maybe for 1Mbps, > 1Mbps for ADSL Max). All you have to do is go to sky.com, click on MySky and log in (create a profile if you don't already have one). You can then do an upgrade or click on Sky Shop. For me, I was given the choice of base, mid or max when I entered my phone number. FYI, I get between 4 and 4.9Mbps connection speed.

Thanks mate I signed up over the phone as the website appears to have died. Hopefully I will get a line around 4 to 5 meg.

Whats your line stats? mine are as follows:-

SNR = 13.0
LOOP ATTN = 55.0

Not at home at the mo, but this morning I was connected at 4.3Mbps with attenuation of 58dB. Noise margin was at about 9dB - this falls to around 5.4dB in the evening.

is there anyway you can ask sky to increase the speed? i am getting the following since i migrated last friday.

up speed = 672000
down speed = 3616000

snr = 6.5
attn = 55

Or is this the best i can get?

Your max for 55dB attn is around 4Mb. The only thing you can do is improve the SNR margin, but you won't get much better anyway. You don't appear to be being capped by Sky, so it's all in your hands. Nothing to do with Sky really.
