Moving to 16Mb Sky Service

I am currently with AAISP with an up to 8Mb service which gives me a connection of 1.5Mbps on my line (the availability checkers say I should get 0.5Mb). I've found the service good but it's pricey. Sky broadband now cover my area so I am considering moving to the 16Mb max service.

Can anyone advise whether switching from a 8Mb to 16Mb service will improve my speeds. I don't know whether it will double the performance or if the distance I am from the exchange mean that any performance gain would be lost over the length of my line?

If getting a sync of 1.5Mbps currently then unlikely to have an effect other than maybe an extra 0.1 Mbps.

With a line like you describe it is likely that Sky will connect you to an ADSL service under the Max product, rather than ADSL2+ anyway

In short you wont gain anything worthwhile, unless you are finding the IP Profile part of the IPStream Max product to be a pain.
