Migration In progress.. just a question..

[link to this post]

Hi

I have started the migration proces on the 21st March from my previous ISP..

Just a question, is there any way for me to find out whether I will be enabled on the ADSL2 or will I be on the ADSL1. With my present ISP I get around 4.5 - 5 Mbps. I know that this 16 Mbps speed, (ADSL2 I believe), well not many get anything near that.

From what I have read it is dependant on distance from exchange etc..?? .. is there any way to check, or is is just a waiting game to see what Sky put me on?

Thanks..
Ged

PS: Whats the link again to check distance from exchange, I lost it!..cheers

madasafish to Sky, lets see how it goes!!

I think it's pot luck to be honest. I was put on ADSL1 and eventually changed to ADSL2+. Made absolutely no difference at all. I get no more than 6Mbps on either.

Unless you are going to get over 8Mbps I have now decided it's not worth worrying about getting on ADSL2+

With your figues of about 5Mbps I would recommend you just stop worrying about it

Cheers Ian/Ray ... yeah from what I have read I am not doin too bad with my speed.. ;0)

Obvioulsy any increase on that would be good.. I just hope my speed doesn't "decrease" to a terrible 1Mb/2Mb ...I know speed etc to be honest is dependant on many factors, just because I would be on ADSL2, doesn't make any difference from what I can gather. But then lets face it, I am paying 10 a month... can you really expect anything else? ;0)

But I have a few worries about this move, (just from negative posts on the net about Sky) I personally had little choice in the migration (it was from the powers that be!).. I would of just stayed where I was if I had my way..lol. ..

Cheers anyway..

In my case I had Sky installed as a fresh sign up rather than a migration. I originally was with PlusNet on line 1, had a new line installed for Bulldog BB (line 2). When I was happy with Bulldog I had PlusNet terminate ADSL on line 1. Sky was activated on Line 1.

My dealings with Sky both before and after the install were perfectly acceptable - I have had no problems with them at all.

Having said that I have no problems with them at any time and I have had Sky satellite ever since it came out.
