Sky Connect..does Sky have its own bandwidth pipes

[link to this post]

Hi

On Sky's Connect service (ADSL Max based) does anyone know if Sky has its own bandwidth pipes (like Enta) which are then connected to BTs or does it use BTs altogether? Could someone who uses Sky Connect copy and paste tracert results?

Cheers:)

And that's from Sky's "connect" (i.e. BT wholesale) service, not it's LLU based product?

Looks like you've been moved to LLU.

Cheers BuckleZ, looks like Sky Connect have their own pipes. On a different note, i noticed that you are only paying a fiver for Connect whereas it normally costs 17 quid pm. Even if Sky don't have any plans to LLU an exchange can they still offer you Connect for 5? At present i'm with UKOnline LLU (and also have Sky TV) but will be moving home soon and the exchange near my new home has only BT ADSL Max service. This is the exchange status:

That tracert proved nothing.
Even my tracert (to www.bbc.co.uk) gives the impression my ISP has its own "pipes".
It doesn't, it uses six BT centrals before I get onto their network, yet there is no indication of BT routing anywhere in the tracert (my first hop is an entanet router - actually the gateway for one of their BT centrals).
Who's to say "dr10.ennby.ov.easynet.net" isn't connected to a BT central?

I'm paying 5/month cause there was that offer when i signed up.

My exchange was to be LLU'ed before June 07 but it never was, Sky kept me on the 5/month deal until it does get LLU'ed (whenever that is - it is showing as futurenet though)

I'd thought that Sky/Easynet used the exchange code in the gateway's domain. I.E. Faversham is cr0.ndfav.uk.easynet.net ... NDFAV is the exchange code. Whereas ennby and thlon don't match any exchanges.

Can anyone else on LLU confirm that their gateway has their exchange code in it's domain name. Use http://dslzoneuk.net/exch_loc.php to look up the exchange code.

Dunno about exchange codes, but THLON often means "TeleHouse LONdon" on network links.
