Sky Broadband anygood for Gamers?

[link to this post]

I am currently in the process of moving house and will be looking for a new ISP in my new house. I will no doubt be getting Sky when I move in, so wondered if it would be in my interest to take Sky Broadband.

Is Sky Broadband LLU? Does it work in the same way as Be Broadband, where they can change your SNR Margin etc. on the fly so when you restart your router the changes are automatically in effect?

My exchange will be 600metres from my house, what speed could I expect? I'd probably go for Sky Max.

I am an avid gamer, so am predominently looking at good pings! Can anyone post some pings to http://www.bbc.co.uk and http://www.jolt.co.uk up for me please.

Or have people had bad experiences of Sky Broadband, and suggest I stay away and got for Be Broadband.

Thanks for your comments.

Nigel

Thanks for the reply, at present with Be Broadband I get pings of 14ms to both those sites on FASTPATH, are you on FASTPATH or is your line Interleaved?

Cheers!

All SKY broadband connections are interleaved which generally adds between 10 and 20ms to your ping.

Ping information is much more useful if you give your location.

play source and cod. i get ping of 28ms on sky Mid LLU, was 22ms with BT max my ping has been is 34ms when pinging jot or bbc.

you have to ask for your max delay to be set to 8 but then the ping is fine. source in game ping shows as 30-33ms on uk servers

I am on Sky Max, i live in east London. I have asked to get my delay time reduced to 8. Before this i used to get between 33ms-45ms. All Sky packages are interleaved!

on Battlefield 2/2142 on good servers i always manage between 23ms-30ms.

This is my ping at the moment my 2 sons are playing World of Warcraft. My ingame pings for TrueCombat:Elite are a stable 50ms to a German server that I usually play on.
