Moving to Sky from O2 - Anyone else done this?

I'm thinking of moving from O2 to Sky, (a) as I want to move line rental etc from BT, and (b) due to O2's new package limitations which I'd have to move to to get their line rental.

Has anyone else moved from O2 to Sky (unlimited) who can comment on the experience. Specifically I'm interested in latency (ping) and download speeds?

I'm currently on O2's premium package with unlimited downloading. My ping seems excellent for gaming, and I'm getting about 13Mb download speeds... Should I expect about the same from Sky's unlimited package?

Also, what router do you get with Sky?

I moved from O2 LLU to Sky about 3 months ago, and the service in my experience is very similar.

Latency is a bit higher, but you can request a gaming profile which reduces ping to or near that of O2. Download speeds are just as good as O2.

Router is a Sky-customised D-Link. You have to use it under the T&C of Sky.

I have just signed up (not connected yet) but received my router last week, it is a D-Link one. I have been told they no longer do a Gaming Profile, that was on there old packages. I don't know if that is correct or not yet. If we have problems with the PS3 once we are connected (next Monday) with it I will try and find out directly.

Strange, I asked Sky recently what profiles are available and they definitely said there is a gaming profile. I'm on Sky Broadband Unlimited. I've found email support pretty good, haven't used the telephone support because it isn't free!

There is a Gaming Profile.......been with Sky now for a couple of years on the Unlimited Package.

I have just migrated from O2 to Sky BB Unlimited. Everything went smoothly from router being issued to BB going active. I called their Tech support with a query and the man I spoke to was very helpful. All-in-all, it's a good start. My line is now in the 10-day training period.

There is only a gaming profile on the newer connections, the older easynet kit has no profiles at all, but can be still be altered to lower latency

How long did it take to move BB from 02 to Sky, rang up recently and was told 15 days...

Well I didn't come from o2, I came from Xilo llu, but it took 7 days
