Possible new user

I am currently with Entanet through UKFSN and pay £20ppm for ADSL max using a Netgear DG834GT router.

I have never had any problems with Enta but have just found out Sky have LLU'd my local exchange.

The question is should I switch to Sky or stay with Enta.

I know i'll be saving £7.50 p/m but is it worth the hassle of jumping?

The only thing I am worried about is the new router Sky would give me as my PS3 is downstairs running off wireless and I get 100% signal strength on it now and some people say the wireless on the Sky routers are week compared.

Also I use MAC coding instead of other security as I was told it is faster and stops some lag in terms of gaming.

My current line stats are as follows using the DMT tool:

Sky reckon I can get between 10 - 15 mb/s if I change to them.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

We found the range on the D-link router we were sent not much less than our Belkin G plus, however on evenings we had been suffering with interference which somehow the D-link doesn't suffer as badly. (and yes we have tried different channels etc).

It is possible (for most if not all) to extract the details from the sky router and use your own. I have done that, though when I switched back although initially seemed to work. hubby had trouble signing in on the evening to the PSN. I don't know what went wrong, I wasn't allowed to experiment (hubby wouldn't allow it).

On the speed side, what is your attenuation? There are sites, which you can put that into to get an idea of what speed you will get. Personally we are getting a synch speeds between 12-14Mbps. This was a huge improvement for us.

All i can say is make them send you the router first or you will be left in no internet limbo.

They did do that with me I Got given the activation date with my modem

As NickyJ mentioned in an earlier post it is possible (or certainly was possible) to extract your username and password from a Sky supplied router. There was a web page somewhere you could got to, enter some details about your router, and it then gave you your details.

When I was with Sky a few years back now, the Sky router was in fact a Netgear DG834GT so you could always go back to using that one once you have your login details.

For ours, I needed to download a little app to get the username and password of the DLink one.
