To MAC or not to MAC that is the question.

I have my broadband upto 8 meg with Entanet and my line rental and calls are with TalkTalk through BT.

I want to change to Sky's LLU broadband as my exchange has been enabled but I want to stay with TalkTalk for my line rental and calls.

The question is do I need a MAC code to change my broadband over or not?

Sky say i will only get between 8-10 meg but dsl zone says I will get between 10-15meg - here are my line stats.

I used to sync at the full 8meg but due to some bad thunderstorms my snr increased to 9 so my sync rate dropped and it won't go back to the 6 it initially was. I have tried numerous times to get it reset but BT won't entertain it so this is the best I can get using the DMT tool.

Which LLU suppliers are available from your exchange,
Sky also use dlm and their default target snr is 7-8db, but with a attenuation of 32db you should get 15-16mbit with a lower snr and fast path , but sky don't provide such, their bb is the default snr,and interleave
If you wanted to get the most from your line then some isp like be* would be a better choice perhaps,

I only have 2 options as I live in the sticks - Sky or TalkTalk - and I know which of the 2 I want to go with

Sky do a gaming profile though which I believe lowers your SNR and increases your sync rate?

Yes, you always need a MAC to migrate your BB to & from Partial LLU or BT.

We were talking about Partial LLU, as I made clear, where you do need a MAC.
