no DLM

Hi, I was connected to sky broadband on the 9th of this month and DLM did not kick in at all so was stuck at 4 meg. So i gave them a call today and the fellow told me he was reconfiguring my line, puts me on hold for a few minutes and comes back to tell me thats my line configured at 16.5 meg. I asked him if there would be any training period for the line and was told no, this is now and always will be my line stats. Is this correct?? My uploads also seems slow.

Line stats:

Connection Speed 16380 kbps 767 kbps
Line Attenuation 27.5 dB 16.0 dB
Noise Margin 7.3 dB 18.8 dB

The fact that the line was set at 4 meg shows that DLM was active. It runs usually for 10 days so you'd have had to have waited until the 19th before you could rule it out

It usually monitors the line for a few days to see if it holds well, monitors errors etc

Chances are it would have changed sync if you waited a little longer

& I always have that problem, when I ask sky to manually change my sync they cap my upload & claim they're not capping it

DLM always sets it to 1100kbps, customer services set mine to 768 Kbps. Go figure

& the impression I have is that DLM cannot be turned off

Sky assured me it was disabled on my line. I had a 768kbps upload.

I left my router plugged in behind a wardrobe for several months (around 3)... Then I noticed random drop outs, logged into mysky and it said DLM was running

I got 1 meg higher speeds and 1100kbps upload by the end

Anyway your stats look good for download, bad for upload. They have capped this but I have a feeling they won't change it as I've been there done that & got the t shirt

You could try though! If they refuse you can request DLM to be turned back on and this is likely to increase the upload

Can't guarantee the download will stay as good though.

4 meg is what they set every line to from the off as far as I'm aware. Also after 4 days no staat changes had taken place and mysky said line testing was not active, as did the representitive I spoke to on the phone. I need to call them and get put onto their gaming profile, so I'll ask about my upload when in on the phone.

&mysky is always very delayed with information related to DLM and your configured sync speed after DLM assigns this

I had DLM stuck on my line for several months and sky didn't know why it kept resetting so believe me when I say I know this beast inside out

A department called CST are generally v.good. Ask for these if your getting nowhere with gaming profile & upload uncapping

I haven't called them in a while

Did you use the contact us form on the website or actually use a direct email

I might ask for a gaming profile as we have gamers in the house

Yeah, I just used the contact us link on their website and selected slow connection as an option. My pings are now mid 30's as opposed to mid 50's, which isnt ideal but far better than they were.
