Sky broadband is slow and pings are high.

Hi, I recently switched from aol/talktalk to sky broadband and so far my experience has been awful. Ping's are very high and speeds are all over the place.

I never had any issues with talktalk.

As you can see the third hop is causing the problem, so not a problem with my network and I am using ethernet. This usually happens between 6pm and 12am.

What is happening? and how can I get this fixed?

This never happened whilst I was on talktalk, it was always a constant 50ms. on line gaming is practically impossible now.

I am using the test socket, although I have no telephone extensions anyway.

Yes, they just keep telling me that its my internal wiring but its not as when I was on talktalk last week it worked fine with 50ms pings.

Is there any sky reps on here?

which Sky broadband product are you on?

Everyday lite (for now, until fibre gets here in April). But as long as I am not using connect then that should not matter right?

Great - I was hoping you'd say that, your stats sounded like Connect !

Is it just the BBC that has high pings or do other sites?

Congestion on the backhaul link from the exchange, core network is massive, but of late one or two exchanges have shown capacity issues, which usually clear up.

Or a handful with fast lines get bored of downloading the complete internet

Every website does this.
