Moved to Sky now slower sync

Hi,

I moved to Sky from Virgin Media National service where I was receiving 18Mb.

Now with Sky after my 10day training period my line is now set to 12.3Mb

I've contacted Sky email and they have said that my speed is within their estimated guess on the POS which is fair enough but 6Mb short??

Give them a call and ask them to either increase your profile or be put on the gaming profile, that should increase the speed relative to your SNR margin.

I was getting just over 19Mb with sky and for some reason it dropped to 4Mb, called them up and they didn't really help much, they got it back to 16Mb but that isn't what i had before, cause of the lack of technical support i am in the process of moving now to plusnet, maybe you won't get as high as virgin cause sky have a 7db snr target, but i wouldn't of thought it would be that much lower.

Maybe that is what i should try, to be asked to be put on the gaming profile, do you think that would help in my situation?.

The 13.8 dB margin isn't helping.

Yes, because your synch is capped far too low. Sky's DLM often does that.

When i called them they said the speed there end was at 20Mb, so i should be getting that but am not, but i have had it before when i called technical support and some guy got it over 19Mb for me, he seemed like he knew what he was doing and sounded quite clever, but everyone else i seem to talk too don't really help much and say i cant get over what i have, even though i have had better.

I suppose the advice is "keep trying".

Have called them up loads of times, quite bored of it now, so i've put in a transfer to a different isp, i might try them once more though and ask for this gaming profile, that might help.

I got an e-mail back of someone else who has set my line to 18Mb
