will i get sky fibre .? although same telephone exchange ..

Hi people my telephone line is connected directly to the telephone exchange other people have getting connected up, me have no indication , I have sky Luu atm currently at 20 meg down and 1.14 up , will I be able to get fibre broadband,.

If your line is genuinely EO then there is no way of getting FTTC at present.

If you are really close to the exchange changing to BE (or similar) could give you the option of ADSL2+ maximum of 24Mb/s down and well over 1Mb/s up.

If you are getting that sort of speed is FTTC borth it? When I was getting 21Mb/s from BE on a line with FTTC available I decided not, since moving house to a different exchange and a large speed drop the answer is YES but it isnt available yet.

Are your speeds in your sig correct? Cuz you are already getting 24 Meg but your upload is low.

Upload probably due to the Sky DLM which appears to favour lower upstream speeds

That is why I left SKY - their DLM is dreadful as it (and the customer services "technicians") refused to allow the router / DSLAM to negotiate a proper down / up speed on a rock solid line and I had a large SRN that wasnt being used.

The upload speed in particular seems to be something that they just don't understand as I was told "we have tried to allocate you more upload but the line isnt stable" despite the fact that there hadnt been a resync in this time.

I suspect they deliberately underuse the line to minimise support calls over unstable connections.

Yeah, Sky's line profiles are a shame. I think they profile the default upload speeds under 800 kbps these days, even if noise margin is in double figures. They can increase it to around 1,150 kbps after a bit of a fight, but it depends who you speak to I suppose.

Bingo - generally that is the whole point of DLM. Since ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ will if left alone always sync at the fastest possible speeds.

But there can only be a very small minority of customers who cannot hold a 7db target margin, so really their DLM/profiles are causing more problems than they solve, by affecting the vast majority of customers who can hold a 7db margin.

regarding my current status off connection directly to my telephone exchange, distance off 80 metres ish. would you's think I have a chance off getting fibre to my house, Note I am not connected to any street cabinet based on my previous post.
