Sky Fibre slow tonight

Hi, I had fibre installed last week and its been fine but tonight its been much slower and my throughput speeds are all over the place.

My sync speed is 26mbps and I normally get 24.5mbps throughput but tonight its been all over the place, here is a screenshot of the broadband meter showing my throughout whilst downloading a test file.

Is any one else having these issues?

I am on the Shrewsbury exchange (WNSY) if that helps.

What postcode are you? Getting Sky on Thursday SY1, and this is not good.

I am in SY1 too, It has been fine for the last week but tonight it has nose dived.

This is ridiculous now, downloading from a US based website and I get sub 1mbps speeds.

And files that are a little closer to home?

US server will also have lots of US users on it too.

For websites based in the UK I get what I posted in the first link (I was downloading a test file from thinkbroadband)

Its faster but its all over the place. Before today I was getting a nice and steady 24mbps throughput.

mine's [censored] too. should get 2MB/sec but spikes from 200KB upto 1.5 and that's it.

Not just Sky Fibre - Sky ADSL which usually runs at around 11mb is doing about 3.1mb for the last 8 hours. I'm in Derby. Has Sky got some bigger problem?

It wouldn't surprise me if they have to be honest ) :

It seems to have returned back to normal for me now but I have a bad feeling by this afternoon things will start to slow down again.

I know there will be some latency and speed loss when transferring files across the globe but 40KB/s from a USA based CNET server is not on. It was the same when downloading a file from Microsoft's website.

Edit: Just checked a file from microsoft.com and its downloading at 13mbps and not my usual 24mbps. Something is wrong here.

Its even worse here VLC installer , all over the place. What speeds do you get if you download it?

Who knows what is causing this, I thought that Sky just got done upgrading exchange backhaul capacity becuase of degraded throughput at peak times but it seems like they need to add some more yet again now with so many people moving over to fibre based products.
