Trashed Openreach Fibre Modem - new record?

So had Sky Fibre installed last Thursday, and by yesterday morning the Openreach modem went up the spout and now won't power on at all.

I left it exactly where Openreach had installed it, yet it still overheated - 4 days from install to failure and I can't get it fixed until Saturday, is this come kind of record?

For a poster to the forums yes, probably a manufacturing fault.

that sounds nasty. why do these modems seem to have problems?

If they are made to the same standards as Huawei phones i can understand why.
