256 upload speed xboxlive voice lagging?

Hi quick question

I have iphone, Ipad, skybox and xbox360 all connected to sky router

tried to do voice chat on xbox360 live + play a game and voice was stuttering badly, would the slow upload speed be causing this?

My upload speed is 256k

I can hear people fine, but people say I'm stuttering.

I'm on ADSL+2 as well, it seemed to work fine when I was on normal ADSL

The high noise margin indicates that Sky is holding back your upstream speed in contradiction to their limits/throttling policies.

The line is long, but upstream should manage 500Kbps or better even on a line like yours.

Call them asking them to re-profile the line as you are a gamer and need better upstream speeds.

Ring up Sky and ask for them to uncap the download and upload.

DLM has capped you but the upload can at least double - probably triple.

If your Xbox360 is normally wirelessly connected; try an ethernet connection to the Sky router - generally a quick and cheap thing to rule out.

& not an offical Xbox adapter for the wifi you are asking for massive problems.
These cause problems on the whole wifi network. You're probably using a wire though or the offiical connector

That model specifically, or you suggesting all Wireless Ethernet Adapters?

This model and a few others. Generally the cheap ones with a weird brand on them.

They usually say wireless G or N. They are called a brand such as LB-link or something weird. The blue one is a definite problem too.

Initially they work ok, they function on bands G or N. Keep them plugged in 24/7 and within a few days they are stuck on 802.11B.

By using B the whole network slows down, in my case it was down to 0.2Mbps. Unplugging it instantly shot the speedtest upto 50+ Mbps. I had a replacement & also tried another white chinese branded one. The same issue.

I then used DDWRT and could see it started at 802.11N but eventually went to B.

Using wireless G or N is fine as it doesn't slow the whole network down. Connect a B device to the network and the whole thing slows. I also noticed the performance on the ethernet adapters was terrible when it got stuck onto B.

I have played with atleast 4 of these. The Sky provided anytime receiver and the netgear ones are perfect mind. It's the cheapo ebay amazon ones.
