Power supply safety warning

Charity Electrical Safety First recently commissioned tests looking at the safety of chargers bought from online trading and auction sites.

It found that half had been wired using "sub-standard components" and none met with the safety requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations Act 1994.

I received the same email yesterday or the day before (cant remember now). It is worrying that so many of our "always on" devices can have such dodgy plugs. I haven't checked mine yet as I stopped using it (it halved my transfer speeds for some reason over wifi).

I would like to think Sky will also letter those who were issued with the device.

I got an email first, then a letter a few days after that.

All wireless repeaters do this halving due to how they work
