Sr102 on 38mb fibre want to bridge help please...

right have just joined up back with sky on 38mb fibre with sr102 router.

did not realise on the wifi on it was bad with thruput speeds, now have read can't hook up your own router directly but can hook up a second router as a bridge using sky box as a modem only.
also advice on how this hooked up any links appreicated.

so questions are this can i use any router as a bridge and achieve speed thruput or does it have to be a vdsl router as that part would not be used as seeming to encure more expense.

looking to future proof as well so looking to include new AC standard as well as having usual n and so on.

any recommendations to which product to get as well as have never had to do this either and is all new to me in this way just to get speeds wirelessly i should have.

Use sr102 in router mode and configure additional devices as wireless access points rather than routers

I'd just buy a wifi access point instead of messing around with additional routers. I bought a D-Link DAP-1665 access point. It's cheap and cheerful but works surprisingly well.

That is a good price for an access point, and it supports AC - excellent.

Last year my friend had wireless range issues with his Sky hub, so we bought a £60 dual band N TPLink router from PCworld and turned off DHCP on the TPLink and the WiFi on the Sky hub, and sat them next to each other. Amazing difference.

can a wireless acces point be wired up by ethernet and then transmit wifi?

its just i thought they are basic wifi repeaters/extenders e.g connect from wifi and the problem with the sr102 is the wifi is rubbish speed thruput and thats what im trying to get away from but if could connect from ethernet from sr102 that could solve the issue.

Yes, as opposed to a wireless extender.

Yes exactly.

The SR102 WiFi is sadly old school and not up to the faster speeds with FTTC.

Both BT and TalkTalk provide better WiFi in their routers, Sky seem to be late updating theirs.
