Regrade G.Fast 3 to 4

[link to this post]

Hi,

Does anyone know how long this would usually take to regrade (i know the current issues with coronavirus may delay)

For reference I switched to G.Fast in September 2019 on 150/30 as even though 300/50 was available was told they weren't accepting orders for the higher speeds (even though they were advertising it). I've been getting a through-put of around 145-148 and at the time of install the engineer advised i could get higher speeds as the line was capable of 330+

So I've waited a bit and contacted zen who said yep I can move to the higher package and usually takes about 48 hours, got the order but currently no further update and just says in progress 5 days.

Does it actually need an open reach engineer to physically do anything (ie change ports or is it just a config change done remotely). Would I need to be home seeing it's already done.

Thanks

It should just be a remote config change.

thanks

I'll wait till middle of week and give them a call

I am right in thinking that my line should drop when they do the change and should then resync at the new speed

It will cause a resync yes. You may not notice it though.
A resync on G.Fast takes seconds compared to around 1 minute on FTTC.

It requires no engineer intervention, no visit to the cabinet and is a simple config change from OpenReach.

Hi,

It went through at 00:10 this morning

Upstream: 49959
DownStream: 317159
Sync Rate: 327657

Extremely happy with that, just need to update opnsense qos for the higher speeds
