SOGEA emails from Zen Sales

[link to this post]

For the last 4 weeks I've been following up emails from Zen Sales (I'm a Zen client of several decades) 'pushing' me to migrate to SOGEA.

It has been a trying 4 weeks.

None of the Sales people - some of whom do not even give names in emails - seem to understand Static IP blocks - we have 16 statics -, nor can/will they confirm that they will be tranfered to SOGEA.

Zen also now want £11 pcm for 8 IPs - currently included in out 12 month contract - and want to increase the contarct to 18 months and want a £10 'regrade' charge (from our FTTC to SOGEA)

Hopefully I'm alone in this - your experience may differ...

Not exactly the same. But, when Zen were going to take away the old "free" IP block, I called sales as the email suggested I should, and they had no idea about any of it, that they were going away nor that there were paid packages available. However in my case replying to the email got the response from someone that did know all about it.

I think my only point here is, they're not the right people to ask about it I think.

From my understanding, changing from FTTC to another delivery method won't change much in terms of your allocations, since your old PPPOE login should be transferred and work with the new service with the IP addresses coming with it.

I cannot say for SOGEA but when I moved from FTTC to Cityfibre, I got a temporary login with a single IP which I used on the day. Once the connection was confirmed working Zen moved my original login to the new profile and when I swapped back to my old login, my old block came with me to cityfibre. I would have expected it would be similar for SOGEA.

I would personally try to talk to tech support rather than sales. Because a forced regrade (which if they're emailing you pestering to do it) shouldn't be a charge/new contract surely?

Thanks for that - all makes perfect sense. Sounds like left hand/right hand stuff!!

Certainly your point about 'forced regrade' is spot on!
