....and wow. Syncing much faster thanks to the router.
BRAS is updating and following my sync within an hour or so.

This is Internet how it's meant to be!

Just got to work out an oddity with the Zyxel.

Getting a high SNR in the day (I have a 9dB margin atm)
During the day the SNR creeps downwards, and when it hit xxdB I get a downward resync - all so far so good.

The following morning, the sync has stayed lower (which I expect) but the SNR doesn't appears to climb back up, it's still reportedly 5dB.

Resync the line, the sync raise back to the high sync, and the SNR returns to 9dB.
I was expecting the SNR to climb higher in the morning or it's own accord.

I'm trying to get my MRTG working again to monitor it, just having some problems with Telnetting the data out :-(

BTW How's Pix 515 working? I ask because a Pix 501 is coming my way and rather cheapish (~50 quid). Don't know much about these Pix beasts. Is 501 any good? Do you know anything about them?

It never materialised unfortunately due to it being the failover of a pair, not the main unit as I thought and I'm not sure how to convert it back so I left it.

501 is fairly good from what I've read - there are a few people using them.

I downloaded a book about 501, that quoted cleartext throughput of 10 Mbps. Though adequate ATM, nonetheless put a bit of doubt in my mind, although Cisco site itself says 60 Mbps. Anyway going for it. Thanks for the reply.

Pix 501 will do about 50m clear, so long as you aren't running fix up rules, or cookie blocking and http inspection.

If you are running it as a VPN endpoint, its 3Mb/s 3DES and 3.5Mb/s AES.

Bear in mind they come with either 10 or 50 concurrent connection limits (i.e. open connections) so are not the best thing for sticking P2P behind...

If you need anymore help, drop me a PM as I don't come in AAISP often.

Also the 515 being the fail-over depends on which license is installed as to whether its recoverable to a stand-alone primary, BTW and seems to be a bit of an overkill for home use!

Got the 501 yesterday. Took bit of understanding to configure it. Been running on one of the subnets, and so far so good.
