Hello all

[link to this post]

My migration to aaisp from Zen was completed today. I was on Zens legacy 1meg service. Now i'm synced at 4256 kbps and getting download speed of 400k/s or so. So i've very pleased. smile

One thing tho i notice if i do a whois lookup on my new aaisp ip my full name is in the results. I really dont like the thought of people being able to get my full name that easy. Can i get this changed?

I think i've found where i can change it in the Broadband members area. But it says

"The following details are published in RIPE. If you are an individual and not a business then you can choose to leave some entries blank. You should only include VALID contact details here and not make up details.

And "Name Firstname then surname of natural/real person"

So am i aloud to change it from my real name to say "Blackmesa8"?

It's still showing up when i do a whois search.. Am i correct to assume it will take a while for the change to filter through the ripe database?

Thanks for your amazingly quick response and help tho smile

I just did a whois direct from ripe.net and it has been updated, it was pretty much instant.

Yep its not showing up through them. On the whois search i was using tho.
http://whois.domaintools.com/

It still shows up. I guess there slower in updating than ripe themselves.
I'm sure it will update there soon too, and be gone
Thanks again for your quick support.

I'm interested if your pings stay lower and remain consistent with AAisp Blackmesa.

After your feedback on the Zen TB subforum I've been checking AAisp out and think I may be able to save some pennies on the 2gb Pro package at £20.50 especially after realising that includes VAT.

As long as the connection remains a quality connection "Off peak" when the greater allowance is available and when I play online the product could serve me well.

Although I believe AAISP don't implement traffic shaping/throttling i wouldn't like the idea that the network got "swamped" as soon as the generous allowance period started. From the face of it AAisp don't look to me as thougn they would attract the heavy user type customer, so I'm sort of assuming that they can be generous off peak because it's likely that most their business users have probably packed up for the day.

Anyway, I've got the Free version of NetLimiter monitoring just how much I do use. I know I use around 10-15GB a month, but I'm not sure what i use during AAisp's peak weekday period. So if I'm within the 2GB monthly usage and certainly with the 1 month minimum contract I might well give them a try.
