AAISP My Experience

OK first week with AAISP one question why isnt this company well known yet?? i was a bit weary as id never heard of this company but when i got connected got a texts to say i was online cool

10 mins later i had a power cut and i got a text from AASIP to tell me the connection was lost to my router so AAISP could know there's a problem with your connection before you if you were not at home

im connected at 7mbs and in the evenings theres no slow down even youtube bbci player dont buffer and facebook load no problem

i would recommend this isp as the communication is second to non other isp's could learn a thing or 2 from these guys unlike the other mob i was with 02 access which is a joke

im on the 4gb peak 100gb off peak a month package at £26.37 a bit more expensive than 02 and other isps but evening speed is what most people want and its what i get a fast connection 24-7 lovely


if you want a decent isp with evening speeds and cant get LLU in your exchange this is the one to get

Your on the same package as me and if you don't have the o2 mobile discount it is actually only £4.00 a month more costwise but for the extra £4.00 the connection is usable.

The control panel thingy is fantastic and monitoring usage etc is so easy.

They have an excellent reputation round here (TBB) - unfortunately for people that use their ADSL during the day the packages don't work

If their packages were 20-30GB for the month (used any time) that would suit a lot more people...

I agree with what you say - AAISP are excellent. I think they are not well known to home users, because they are primarily an ISP for businesses, but it does seem that more and more people at home are prepared to pay a little extra for 1st class service.

I use my internet all day, works fine for me on 2Gb. It's pretty simple to avoid youtube etc.

That's great, and I guess the packages will suit some people. But I was using this as a reason why they aren't more well known for the OP

I seem to use between 1/2 and 1GB a day.
I setup a new Windows 7 laptop in the week. The Windows and Office updates alone were 750MB!

So for some people it would be easy to get caught out and 'avoiding' YouTube, iPlayer, News footage is a bit of a pain...

Well, if you do that frequently enough, and need to do it during the day, maybe you should configure a local WSUS server.

No it's only once or twice a month - that's where my Freeola(Entanet) allowance (36GB during weekday + unmetered weekends/nights) allows me to do this sort of thing without worrying.

I would have thought it would be quite a balancing act if someone was using AAISP and supported W2000 > W7 even if they used the MS WSUS!

As we've already mentioned the AAISP allowance won't suit all people (especially if people are working during the day or have children at home during the school holidays!) but for some it's fine.

And AAISP's customer service and fault resolution appears to be second to none

Most networks download and deploy at night or, at a minimum, download at night and deploy during the day.

Just a matter of getting the kids to sleep during the day and use the internet at night when they are on their school hols then

I used my dsl during the day as a customer, on their 6 gig package at the time. It was enough traffic, one month I used 10 gig and I had no bill due to their policies on over usage, every other month I was under 6 gig, the daytime is only office hours.

But wouldn't 'businesses' need more than a few GB per month allowance during office hours? It looks like the major download allowance is out of office hours so suiting the home user more?

I'd imagine if a business were to grow enough to need more than 2 or 3 adsl lines, they'd be better off going for an ethernet solution. I suppose though, it would depend on what your business is. If you were a small graphics design company, for instance, and part of your employees job was download large amounts of graphics, then low limits might be a problem.

I visit a number of 'businesses' for my work and notice they ALL like a bit of Wimbledon, Football, Cricket, Shopping, YouTube, Video Jokes, etc. in between doing their serious stuff!

So the allowances/hours still look more suited to 'home' users where the owner is out doing his day job during office hours.

i like your reasoning, just tried to find out who my husbands company use for their traffic, they have the system screwed down so an awful lot of even 'browsing sites' can't be accessed, youtube, sports, etc.

Don't forget that not all businesses would have web browsing; there could be things like mail servers, remote monitoring, heck even just a reliable backup line.
