Exchange upgraded to 21C - can I pay to be upgaded now?

[link to this post]

"With regard to broadband service on 01305 ******

As you may be aware the UK telephone network is being upgraded to what is
called the 21st Century network. This involves a lot of changes within the
core network and at telephone exchanges.

Your local telephone exchange has recently been upgraded to 21CN. This means
we are now able to provide a better broadband service to you.

We expect the upgrade to go ahead on 2010-04-22. It could happen at any time during
that day, or may even be delayed. The work may be done out of office hours.
This will mean a few minutes loss of service while wiring is changed at the
exchange.

The new connection will be initially the same as your existing connection.
However your line will then be able to handle a new faster ADSL2+ service.
Once the upgrade is complete we will then put through an upgrade to allow faster ADSL2+ operation"

Yay! At last!

Thanks for the info A&A!

As I recall, some ISP's would upgrade you immediately if you paid a tenner or something. Is this still the case or do I have to wait until the 22nd?

see the upgrade section on this page although if the order has already gone through you may not be able to do this.

Usually you could upgrade earlier for a one off fee but in this case it is probably best to wait for the bulk upgrade to happen as your exchange is not due to go live until the end of March anyway (according to BT)

Also although we sent that email BT have a system issue meaning they bounced the order back to us, this is being worked on and when resolved you should see the upgrade pending on clueless.
