How slow is acceptable?

[link to this post]

On a 20CN exchange.

Off peak I can get the full 8 Mb speed.
Peak times I drop to approx 1Mb.

I have been told the VP is red and that BT were supposed to fix it last week.
Looking at my exchange history....

It's been red for a long time !

Am I being too demanding? Is 1Mb Peak time speed 'acceptable' ?

That's your problem

1,960 residential premises
82 non-residential premises

Low priority BT don't care. It's about the same size as ours but luckily 60% of the houses here are only lived in weekends or are holiday lets with no BB.

For me 1Mb is not acceptable but for BT it probably is frown

I'd say 1MB/s is absolutely not acceptable.

I'm on a similarly overloaded exchange
http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/?exchange=Long%2...

Unfortunately fixing the problem is purely down to BT and without any competition from LLU or cable BT are extremely reluctant to put any effort into maintaining these smaller 20CN Market 1 exchanges.

Contact A&A support and explain the problem (if you can provide a couple of Speed Tests results showing the difference between peak and non-peak speeds that'd probably be a help). As I say, A&A can't do anything directly but this kind of overloading is a known problem and maybe A&A know the right people within BT to kick to get things sorted.

Just found out that BT have moved it back to 19th April.

But looking at the exchange history it's been moving since October 2008 !

Something tells me BT are full of it !
