Last time I saw someone ask about that, it was said that it would be announced on the broadband status page (http://status.aa.net.uk/posts.cgi?itype=Broadband) if they decided they could afford to do that this year. Last year the announcement arrived early in December (http://status.aa.net.uk/apost.cgi?incident=713). With a pile of new users on FTTC this year, any such a gift may have to come with more caveats (a few good FTTC lines used with no restraint could cost them a small fortune in bandwidth in an unmetered period!)

Current ISP: Andrews & Arnold (AAISP, aa.net.uk) via FTTC at ~36Mbit down & ~10Mbit up, joined July 2011.
Previous setup: Be Pro with UploadPlus (ADSL2+, AnnexM), 12ish Mbit down, 1.6 up, happy customer for ~2.5 years.
