Hi guy
I am looking to make the move to AAISP but I have a few questions.
1. Part payment - my employer will be paying for my broadband but I am wanting to know if there is a facility to "top up" my allowance of units to save exceeding my agreed amounts with my employer
2. Virtual Path contention - If you have experienced contention at the exchange level, how successful have you been with AAISP getting these faults resolved in a timely fashion? I currently experience crazy first hop latency most evenings (400ms+) and terrible downloads. Currently on Zen
3. Tracerts - Can you perform a traceroute to the bbc news website and also to 178.32.50.149 which is my colo box on OVH?
Appreciate this is a bit of a needy post but any help is appreciated, including comments from AAISP themselves
Cheers
Deep Blue

1. There is no part payment or cap. If you use more, you pay more. They raise an invoice at the start of each month detailing what is due - just pass this to your employer.
2. I can't answer as I have no experience of this.
3. Traceroutes below (I'm on fastpath):

I had a problem a couple of years ago on my exchange with serious VP contention and A&A were extremely good and persisted with BT until BT finally agreed that there was actually a problem and moved me over onto the the other VP which was far less congested.
When it comes to getting BT to actually do their job properly A&A really know what they are doing.

Thanks for your comments guys - it's the news I really wanted to hear!
I am on 20CN as my exchange is Market 1 - don't know if this makes all that difference to latency and the like?
|
|
|
|
Well a Market 1/20CN exchange (like mine is as well) seems to means BT won't bother spending any money on it unless they ABSOLUTELY have to, so things like Capacity upgrades etc take a long time, but assuming the exchange is running ok then the latency doesn't look that much different to a 21CN exchange.

Hi Deep_Blue,
We're happy to help with problems, congestion etc... sometimes resolving problems within other parties networks (BT exchanges etc) can take a bait of time, but we will persevere!

these guys are great, they really are, move to them, you'll have no problems, they offer a great first class service.
I was with them for a good while, and they sorted out a long running rein fault, i only left them, because i needed to save money, so went with a cheaper suppler but overall they are a great ISP.

Indeed, you can't go wrong with A&A.
I've left a couple of times myself over the years to try and get a larger daytime allowance but on both occasions I got my mac code and was back at A&A inside a week the experience was awful. Sometimes you just take A&A's great service for granted as it is so consistent but for me they stand tall above ALL other ISP's and I've been with a few over the years.
