Hi,

Has anyone tried to do something like this?

I'd like to move my landline contract to BT but ensure at the same time that they leave the FTTC with AA completely alone.

Is this something that is easy to do, or is it likely that BT will royally screw it up and mess up my FTTC at the same time?

Finally, how would you recommend going about this? and should I keep AAISP in the loop so they are aware that I have no intention of switching my FTTC provision?

It should be no problem unless you are currently using VOIP on the AAISP line and want to retain the number.

It seems to me an odd thing to do however, given the ridiculous price BT charge for line rental and call packages. Is there a reason for choosing BT as opposed to something like I'm on for my AAISP FTTC, Pulse8 at £13pm plus £1pm for caller display?

Thank you for the reply. Completely agree re BT prices, but if I am to be able to claim my home phone as a business expense (i.e. get work to pay for it!) it has to be on their list of approved suppliers and, sadly, BT is the only one on the list for fixed lines

Hmmm. What about the tax implications for personal use?

What are they? I've always put my home phone line through and calls since day 1 of being in business. 2 mobiles too - 1 business 1 personal.

I've had no problem in over 20 years, maybe I am just lucky?

Your Business Mobile - fine

Your second personal mobile - that's not deductible

Your Phone Line - might be partially, but certainly if you also use for personal purposes not fully.

There is also the point that 23Prince appears to be self-employed, (ot technically an employee of a company he owns), whereas spudgun appears to be an employee pure and simple.

As you clearly know, but they may not, the tax situation is different anyway.

I can only go by my experience. From being a subbie to a director. I've always put what I stated through the books and it's always been accepted as deductable
