Sorry - I just assumed most people go for the Home 1 + 5TB option.
I'd hope not, and that they do have significant / majority of customers taking base package. If not they'd seem to be pretty close to the line against some of RevK's ramblings on advertising, price comparisons, etc.
I.e: it's hard to compare what a typical user's cost is likely to be with AAISP vs another ISP unless the typical user uses less than the originally 500GB / now 1TB limit, or they know their requirement. Most end users don't have any handle on what their broadband usage is.

Most end users don't have any handle on what their broadband usage is. I think you're right, I took the decision back in the summer of 2019 to record my monthly usage and to date I have not exceeded 1TB/month

That's excellent. I totally forgot about rollover - is it still 1/2 of whatever is left?
Yes it is half of the total unused that is rolled over including previous rolled over amounts. So if you are on 10TB and your first month you have 8TB left over, the next month you get 14TB (10 + 8/2). If you use only 2TB again, then the following month you get 16TB rolled over (10 + 12/2), so for most people they have an ever increasing allowance.

Agreed but does AAISP not show you usage? it must do in order to know how much to roll over? This is why I am hoping to get a bit higher on L2TP speed wise so I can try it out without trying the service - so I know what the actual system does.looks like

I guess this came from a discussion about someone not using all their allowance? seems logical to start doing it if enough people starting to complain about losing allowance - especially when there is a high abelt fixed price every month.

Are you allowed to roll over the allowance and then switch back and forth between the 1TB and 10TB options on the account, while keeping the rolled over allowances? I'd find that useful as I'd roll over maybe 3TB each month, which would mean I'd probably only need to be on a 10TB service for 1 month in 3 or 4.

It's a given I think that a metered service is going to provide some means to see the meter...! My point was relating to folk looking to switch to AAISP. It's not a given that it will be straightforward for broadband customers with other providers to be able to estimate their requirement (and hence make an informed switching decision).

With the 5TB now 10TB packages I don't think for the majority of people the roll over provides much benefit as even if it didn't roll over each month there is still more than enough. To get a roll over you aren't using all the allowance in the first place. What it does mean though is the vast majority of customers have an increasing allowance and essentially never need to check usage and just treat it as unlimited.
The hard allowances do of course stop those people joining that would abuse the network by taking a disproportionate amount of it if it was unlimited.

Yes you can change the monthly quota for free starting from the following month. I'm not sure what happens to any already accrued allowance.

I agree, This is a good reason to maybe try the L2TP 24/7 for a month - after all most people going to AAISP will be tech savvy enough to possibly do that. I've signed up and put the details in my router as I am also keen to see what I use a month. I reckon 3.5-4.5TB in a heavy one. I've gone for the Business one which is 5TB a month
