I just wish that on the Home packages there was something on offer between 1TB and unlimited.
I have Sky Stream and on average use about 1.2TB a month, so about every third month I have to upgrade to what has been the 10TB package and then the following month regrade back down to the 1TB package, on the basis that I can carry over half of the previous month's surplus data.
I don't know how this will work now if you regrade from unlimited to 1TB.

I was put on 1TB when I ordered 10TB, I have left it alone to see if its enough and so far it has been. Remember unused quota is carried over, so the actual quota is typically more than a TB.
Its good AAISP continue to increase what they offer at the same price points, but I hope the network quality doesnt get affected by this change, as it may attract those who like to download the internet.
Also of interest is AAISP are not calling it "unlimited" instead it is "no quota".

As they say themselves, 10TB to most people is essentially unlimited as most never got near it, I know I didn't, but annoyingly 1TB was not quite enough for me, and would mean I would then need to be checking all the time at was being used and ration some usage, so had to go for 10TB and pay the A&A tax just so I didn't need to keep checking the numbers. I was hoping the premium was going to be worth it for a better service.
So this is a good news story only, as its not really benefiting their customers and the 1TB quota remains the same, but the change to unlimited may now attract those that max their lines out, affecting the overall service, something A&A used to say to justify their "quota" system. Perhaps they are losing customers and need to attract some new ones by caving in and going unlimited.
As for their legendary service, having now left them after getting sick of being used as an unpaid BETA tester and flaky service, whilst also paying a premium, my current ISP (Unchained) has been 100% reliable. I get the same speeds and latency, plus I've not had one single drop since joining them, I'm still on the same PPP session since the day it went live months ago, and that far exceeds the reliability that A&A were ever able to provide in the time I was with them, and its cheaper than their 1TB service whilst, in A&A language, has no quota.

I don't think they will change. The customer base is a specific type - They have more then enough capacity to cope I think from the press release

I see no mention of monthly regrades on any website.
For those of us fortunate to have a FTTP connection, I am struggling to see why I might want to pay £20 a month more for a 1Gbps Unlimited service than say a similar product with Aquiss or Zen. I moved to Aquiss from AAISP over 2 1/2 years ago and my FTTP connection has been rock solid with no noticeable slowdowns. I have absolutely no idea how good Aquiss Support is as I have never had to use it. Aquiss billing is as good as AAISPs.

I have never understood why people pay top dollar for AAISP, they can't even manager to swallow the install charges like most other niche providers do. I have always stayed with the massive market providers on FTTP and fingers crossed never had an issue but its probably one of those things that gives some people comfort which then justifies the cost.
May be the same logic is used when choosing between Aldi/Lidl and Waitrose, its all food at the end of the day but some feel the food is better because they have paid more for it although if you scan some of the Aldi/Lidl food barcodes with a mobile phone app they come back with Waitrose as the brand as they are the identical product.
Each to their own.

Cant comment on Aquiss but I dont consider Zen same tier as AAISP.
To you it may not be a thing you are bothered about which is fine, its why having a competitive retail market is good as we can all make our own choices.

Fair enough - But that's you. I'd be going down from 1000 up to 220 but it's still going to be fast enough and for the drop is price it's worth it.

It is a different market, a lot of people who use A&A need the net for work or business and as you said they think the cost is worth it for better customer service if things do go belly up.
I realise that broadband is now more reliable than ever before, but things can and do go wrong, certainly with hardware and A&A may be better at sorting these things out.
I did think of them once, but the lack of unlimited put me off and I have recommended them to some people, but again the lack of unlimited and maybe the higher price.
i have normally gone for larger providers, a couple of times sin the ADSL days I have gone for the smaller ones, like Metronet and I went for a local Wireless network until they could not cope and by then FTTC was here, so I went with plusnet and stayed with them until changing to ZZoomm last year. Stayed with Plusnet for over 9 years.
Zzoomm is pretty small compared to some of the others, while I was a bit unsure when i first change, i think I made the right choice.
Sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you are not.

I know from post experience that AAISP has a first class technical support team. Given the copper-related issues associated with FTTC, their ability to get things resolved was worth paying a premium for. However, FTTP just works. In the 2 1/2 years with Aquiss, I have had one short loss of service. This was a network issue that impacted a number of ISPs.
If I think back to these forums some years ago, they were filled with people complaining about the service that they were getting. Look at them today, some ISP forums don't get a post in weeks.

Openreach FTTP
FTTP 'broadband only' connections are available with a choice of 1, 12 or 24 month contract lengths. If you cancel the service (including moving house) then you will be liable for an early termination charge of £20.00 for each month remaining of the contracted period.
Connection via the Openreach network with minimum lead time of 14 days, actual lead time varies subject to survey.
FTTP connections for new circuits on 1 month contracts will be subject to a £50.00 activation charge, 12 & 24 month contract packages will be installed free of charge. A free migration will be offered where an existing Openreach FTTP installation is detected.
