Do you plan on having two routers powered on and connected: one feed from the OLT and the other from the NTE for a short while after FTTP is activated and prior to going to VoIP?
I only have the one ethernet cable from downstairs to upstairs to my Asus router. I could move the router downstairs but that mucks up my mesh. So the quick answer is no and it will be a swap from the downstairs modem to ONT I am hoping.
is the second mesh unit downstairs?
Yes but in a different room to the master socket.

Things now seem to be progressing really well...

Just had a thought, does the BT ONT LAN port autosense speed and orientation eg patch cable or straight thru.

Standard T-568B at both ends (straight through) should be OK for the RJ45 ethernet WAN connection between the ONT and router. Speeds wont be a problem with genuine CAT5e or CAT6.
I haven't done this type of wiring myself, I just use ready made RJ45 patch leads. So hopefully somebody else may correct me if I'm wrong...

Thanks for that. I have what I think is a straight thru patch lead supplied by Talk Talk Biz and an ethernet socket with 5a up to the router in my studio. I think I wired the sockets straight thru but have tested with TTB router/hub which has 1GB ports and it works so it was just something that is an unknown at the moment.

So you are working with 2 RJ45 patch leads and a length of CAT5 between 2 RJ45 sockets and seeing up to 1 Gb/s transfer speeds? If so I'm sure that will be fine.

Yes that's the idea. Just need someone to splice the fibre and fit a couple of boxes.

Am live now. Bit of a mix up with the CBT (flashing PON light and no connection) but network sorted it and OR engineer is away now.
