VMG1312-B10A and IPv6

Has anyone managed to get IPv6 working properly on the ZyXEL VMG1312-B10A?

I'm getting fed up with starting up the PC in the morning to find that I've lost IPv6 connectivity because AAISP have done PPP resets overnight. (See https://support.aa.net.uk/VMG1312-B10A:_Bugs#Problem... - Intermittent loss of IPv6)

Don't even try! You will end up with DLM banding your line. It has an acknowledged firmware bug that AAISP say ZyXel have told them is not going to be fixed.

Whether that is just the AAISP version or the generic, or maybe they are the same thing, I don't know.

I run a Billion 8800NL R2 instead.

They've also not update the firmware they ship from AAJZ.5 - the current version available on the ZyXEL website is AAJZ.13. I've tried updating to that version but am still seeing the same issue.

AAJZ.5 was released by ZyXEL 01/04/2015, AAJZ.13 was released 22/08/2017

(Interestingly since I put the new version on the Router Settings page on control pages is suggesting I "upgrade" from 13 to 5!)

Due to the number of PPP drops we've had recently and hence number of times I've had to reboot the rooter to regain full connectivity this will be the first month I've not rated them 5* for everything.

Re your OP, I think you'll find AA aren't doing PPP resets. That it's the router doing it.

Are you using it in combo mode, or with front-end modem such as an HG612? If using an HG612 then rebooting the ZyXel of course won't bother DLM. It was when I was trying it in combo mode and IPv6 at the same time I ran into trouble.

As a point of interest, but relevant once you get it stable, are you doing an IPv6 BQM? Don't forget, if you are or might, that the IPv6 address thinkbroadband detects is your device. Not the modem/router. You have to substitute the correct one.

They really should have stopped supplying this ZyXel as soon as they used up their stock of them ages ago. By now if they had any left they should have written them off, or at least informed the buyer they should be used for IPv4 only. Before the user signs up for broadband with them. Basically, it is no longer fit for purpose in the form advertised.
