I have joined tonight with an order for full fibre on a 1 month contract. Ordering was simple but comprehensive. I chose the new installation without affecting my current service (VDSL/Phone) and as soon as that contract is up will port the phone to AA.

Why did you decide to use AA?

Short contract and they have a reputation of standing on BT/OR toes if things go wonky which they did with a flashing PON light.

So it seems you never intended to stay with A&A, just use them to help get a new FTTP service leaving your TTB copper service intact, which Plusnet seemed to have trouble arranging. It may have done the job but there must have a considerable cost.

Savings in the long run, reward card, cheaper monthly cost with PN and no line rental with VOIP when I eventually switch.

It is only your internet connection where perhaps AA might prove more effective in resolving issues where other ISPs may let you down. A hosted VoIP service piggy backs onto the internet connection. With Voipfone you have a rolling 30 day contract and they are cheaper than AA in any case.

Remains to be seen if the switch will happen in the early hours of Monday or Tues.

Have PN sent you a "Hub Two" router?

They have a few days ago by first class post. I haven't opened it other than to check it's contents. I plan to use my own router unless a problem occurs then will plug it in for diagnostics. Should be a straight forward change of username and pass on my Asus router I am hoping.

That's a good plan but if the worst comes to the worst you've still got an active TTB FTTC line which you can use to contact PN support.

Yes I had thought of that and it's just a case of swapping cable from ONT to Zyxel modem. TTB DSL doesn't even care if the PPPoE username is right. Have a contact at PN Exec team now.

If all that is true, may we see the cost of each element of the service that you will be subscribing to please. You may not have a line rental to pay with VoIP, but usually there is a monthly fee for the use of a POTS style number in the 01/02 range. Then there will be call charges to consider.
