Internet drops out due to noise on line - possible cure

I wonder if anyone can confirm my suspicion that what I have done has cured the problem.

Over the last few months my connection dropped & reconnected several times a day. By coincidence I found out that it was caused by noise (crackling) on the line.
I have suspected that the cause of the noise was my burglar alarm (installed roughly the same time as the problems started though cant be sure) which is connected to my phone line.
Last week I installed an Induced AC filter in my alarm and and since then I have had no drop outs.
