Hi all,
I have similar issues to those in this thread. I just can't get the BQM to work.
I have a 20CN connection with a Netgear DG834PN modem running in bridge mode to an Asus RT-N66u router. Whenever I tried running a BQM I just got a completely red result. I have enabled response to pings in my router. I did have a SKY box in my DMZ (with, tbh, no recollection of ever putting it there) but took that out and disabled DMZ. But since then I now have a completely blank BQM.
I tried running a traceroute command and steps 2-9 returned "request timed out." Steps 1 and 10 got a result.
I'm at a bit of a loss. Any ideas?

traceroute from where to where?
Can people external to you actually ping your IP address, until that is working the BQM will not work.
The RT-N66U does work with the BQM and pings normally, so suggests a configuration issue. What firmware are you running.

thanks for the quick reply.
I'm running the stock firmware version 3.0.0.4.376_1071, which appears to be the latest. I tried running the tracert command from within the CMD prompt to bbc.co.uk. I'd post a picture but don't see how to?

That is the wrong direction, you need someone on another internet connection to try pinging you or just use

Okay well that works and the IP address that I just removed is pingable.
Does the IP address you have for the BQM agree with what http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ip.html shows as your IP address

Do you have any of the DoS protection stuff turned on? Our ping once a second can trigger sensitive router protection devices.

No, enable Dos protection is turned off

If it helps, I left everything standard in the settings. I just enabled the Respond Ping Request from WAN and disabled the DMZ.

Does nobody have any ideas on how to get this working?

Generally the Asus routers work once you enable ping responses. Do you have any more info on the bridge mode setup of the netgear? Could it be doing something clever?

hi, thanks for the reply. I enabled the modem only mode in the Netgear through the hidden settings as described here. The only other options I changed were to set the VCI to 38 and use LLC (I think, it's been a while). Other than that I haven't touched the modem since.

Bizarrely, having changed nothing at all the BQM has now started working and I have a graph. I checked in every day until Sunday and kept getting a blank graph, and then gave up through lack of progress. I went back in today just for a laugh and got a fully functioning graph. Most strange of all, I can see backdated graphs to the day I set it up (28th October).
Out of curiosity, does anyone have any idea why I can now see graphs that I couldn't on the day? I have not done anything at all to my PC or router. I have changed no settings, installed no software, not cleared any cache etc etc. In fact, I haven't even switched it off for a week. How come I can see graphs that I couldn't before?

When you say couldn't see graphs, do you mean when you looked at the BQM pages the chart was solid red previously but is not showing green, yellow and blue data?
Or do you mean the BQM system was not even allowing you to see the red no response graphs?

I mean the graph was completely empty. No data of any kind

It was like this:
Empty graph
and now looks like this:
Populated graph
