Plusnet supplied Sagemcom F@ST 1704N

Has anyone worked out how to enable ping / ICMP for the new Plusnet Sagemcom F@ST 1704N modem/router ?

I found a few references online but no solid instructions that have worked with the installed version of firmware (modified for PN ??).

For those interested (and to create another link for peoples), to gain entry to more advanced settings, visit the main router page and log in (usually via http://192.168.1.254 as factory supplied, and then visit http://192.168.1.254/expert_user.html

From what I read on plusnets forum, its locked in the firmware as a security risk so isn't possible to enable. So unless it gets new firmware you can't use the quality monitor unless you put a pc into DMZ and make its software firewall allow pings.
