B.Q.M. QUERY

[link to this post]

I am monitoring a friends graph, (with their knowledge).
They are monitoring too.

My graph showed a large RED section, until they rebooted the router, then all back to normal.

BUT, their graph showed all normal, only showed the RED during the reboot.

Both of us are on VIRGIN CABLE using the HUB 3 in router mode.

So why should the two graphs be different? probably something I have missed.

Do you mean you have BOTH set a BQM to monitor the exact same IP?

If so, this means instead of the router being pinged once a second, it is being pinged twice a second.
This is likely to make a router block the pinging source.

ThinkBroadband have a couple different IP's that the pingbox can use.
Maybe your BQM used 1 IP and your friends BQM used the other, and the router stopped responding to 1 of them due to being flooded with pings.
Rebooting might have cleared this block?

Why not just have a single BQM setup that both of you can look at instead of doubling the resources required to respond by having 2 separate BQM's

Virgin Hubs in router mode don't like BQM's at the best of times. Having 2 separate BQM's pinging the same IP isn't ideal.

You say you are monitoring your friends graph and not that you have made your own, but that would show the exact same graph to both of you so I'm a little confused.

"I'm a little confused"... so am I.

Virgin Hubs in router mode don't like BQM's at the best of times. Having 2 separate BQM's pinging the same IP isn't ideal.

That is probably the answer.

I have now deleted MY direct link.

Now using my friends direct link to monitor.

Only ONE direct ping now of course.

Thanks for your input.
