BQM reports packet loss increase but connection ok

[link to this post]

Hi All,

I started to monitor my connection with BQM in early April due to my connection slowing to a crawl every few days at around 20:00 to 22:00. The top link is one of the early graphs and the bottom from a week ago where all of a sudden, you can see the dropped packets increased.

My Broadband Ping
My Broadband Ping

I haven't experienced any performance issues over the past 2 week yet the graphs are looking like this.
I'm using the FRITZ!Box provided by Zen. Pings to random addresses seem pretty decent and my latency is ok.

Pinging uk.www.bbc.co.uk.pri.bbc.co.uk [212.58.233.251] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 212.58.233.251: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=53
Reply from 212.58.233.251: bytes=32 time=8ms TTL=53

Reply from 212.58.233.251: bytes=32 time=9ms TTL=53

Is this showing something sinister or is it a BQM problem?

Cheers.

FritzBox's are known the ignore ICMP's, especially if you have more than 1 monitor running (Zens own monitor for example).

If the BQM shows that much packet loss and you are experiencing no issues at all, then you aren't actually getting that much packet loss.
It will just be the FritzBox ignoring the pings.

That much packet loss would be immediately noticeable.
