Huawei B618s-22d Router

[link to this post]

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is good!

A bit about our system. We live in a rural part ofWales, whereby we could only get decent broadband by fitting a 4G router and external antenna. The kit we fitted is as follows:
Huwawei B618s-22d 4G router (not tied to any network)
Poynting XPOL-2-5G Outdoor 4G/5G LTE 11 dBi Cross Polarised Directional Panel Antenna

So with this fitted we have had no problems with 4g broadband for 17 months but all of a sudden the SkyQ keeps failing saying no internet connection - even though our PC's are connected. We are seeing varying 4G speeds from lower 20Meg up to 80Meg

I have checked the speed using the Think Broadband speed checker - and we got the below results:

My Broadband Speed Test

I have also set up the BQM to see if it throws anything up, and it is 100% full of Red, so something is obviously not right somewhere.

With the above information, is there anything I should look at to try and see what the issue is - or could it be EE throttling us back, as we used to have pretty reliable speeds etc?

Kind regards

Jay

I am no SkyQ expert but would offer the following advice.

If your internet and the rest of your network is working without issues, then the issue probably lies with either the SkyQ box or its connection to the router (especially if everything, inc SkyQ, was working fine for 17 months as you say).

In the first instance, you have not stated how your SkyQ box is connected to your B618 ie wired or wifi. If connected via wifi, then what I would do is to connect the SkyQ box via a wired / ethernet connection to the B618 and see if this resolves the problem.

This way you eliminate the wifi aspect and if the SkyQ box still does not work then my hunch would be that the SkyQ box may be faulty.

Here is a useful youtube video for switching internet connection for the SkyQ box.

I would concur that it is probably a Sky Q issue - my Sky Q box has a wired connection to my router, but it still sometimes complains that it does not have an Internet connection.

The reason that your BQM graph is completely red is most likely because you have not configured your router to respond to ICMP echo requests from the Internet.
