Gaps in BQM since 09/12 outage

[link to this post]

I've been seeing short blank sections in my BQM since the outage on the 9th. The 10th was fine, but then the next 3 days have all shown blank sections. I've seen some other BQMs that don't show the problem. Is it just me?

Here's today's snapshot to illustrate: https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/...

All OK here. No blips or gaps since the 9th.

When did you create the BQM?

The BQM was created back in March of this year

I saw similar gaps when using a problematic DDNS provider.

Ah, thanks. I can see how that's a possible cause of my issue as my BQM does use a hostname rather than an IP. Maybe it's pure coincidence that the gaps appeared for the first time after the outage?

That said, I'm not aware of any problems with my DDNS provider, and it hasn't been required to change IP address for months (I removed the DDNS automation when I started debugging internet access problems back in March, and haven't yet felt the need to reinstate it). I'll try and think of a way to rule out DDNS issues - does anyone have any good ideas about how to do that?

The gaps only appear on BQM's that use a DDNS.
Changing DDNS was the only thing that fixed it for me.

Yesterday afternoon I did a few things in quick succession: I updated my IP address with my DDNS provider (a no-change update, but I hadn't otherwise contacted them for months); I set up a dnscheck.co check against my DDNS domain name; I set up a second BQM against my IP address.

Since then the gaps have disappeared. Maybe there's a benefit in periodically updating my IP address even when it doesn't change, or maybe just another co-incidence. I'll keep monitoring the dns checker and second BQM in case there are any further gaps in future.

Good to know you have it sorted, I never worked out what it was, but changing DDNS provider solved it for me completely. About 18 months ago now.
