Does anyone have a BQM for "Hey!Broadband"?

[link to this post]

Kind of interested to see how people's graphs are looking on "Hey!Broadband",
Haven't seen any other than a single screenshot on Twitter.

Thanks in advance,

Jo.

Here's mine on Hey!: https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/...

Lots of spikes, but that might be the router I'm using dropping packets.

Hi Andy!
Thank you for the reply,
The link isn't working for some reason.

I noticed mine is actually terribly spikey(Maximum latency),
Not sure if it has to do with the router however (Adtran 854-v6)
I wanted to see how it performed without "Bridge mode" - kind of wondering if it would have been the same either way.

also the routing is very odd - for example if I traceroute to bbc.co.uk: it routes through Italy.
I'm based in Hemel,
seems to do the same for some guy in High Wycombe too.
Another guy I asked to check was routing through somewhere in Germany - I'll have to check where he's based.
Less than ideal in any case!

Try this link: https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/...

That's a bit bizarre! If I run a traceroute, I go through a couple of private IPs, which I assume are the Hey! network,
then the next hop is 161.12.100.178, which belongs to SSE, who are the only peer they have (which is bad for routing, stability etc.)

It seems that they're cobbling together IP addresses (check here: https://ipinfo.io/AS212426) and some may be geo-matched to other countries, but that doesn't explain the routing.

Can you post a traceroute here? (I'm in Wycombe)

It seems that they're cobbling together IP addresses (check here)

Par for the course, unless you’re a large established incumbent telco or ISP with a large amount of historic IPv4 address space.

Everyone else’s has to mop up the scraps and stitch it together as best possible.

Hey Andy,
cheers for the quick reply!

Firstly: https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/...

Here's my live graph! - we had the same latency jump at around 8PM yesterday,(The 100% packet loss was me manually restarting the router)
also the same daily raises at 2PM + 2AM.

Tracing route to bbc.co.uk [151.101.128.81]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms router.lan [192.168.1.1]
2 1 ms 1 ms <1 ms 172.16.16.16
3 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 172.16.151.17
4 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms 161.12.100.178
5 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms 149.3.183.10
6 27 ms 27 ms 58 ms ae0.milano61.mil.seabone.net [93.186.128.57]
7 29 ms 29 ms 29 ms 195.22.205.9
8 28 ms 28 ms 28 ms 151.101.128.81

Trace complete.

I'm sorry the the formatting, or lack of! smile

Kind of glad it's not just me getting those maximum ping spikes at set times!
