IP address vs FQDN (Cloudflare)

[link to this post]

I have a very odd issue that makes little sense to me.

Monitoring my connection by IP address shows a nice clear graph.
If I use the FQDN ( via Cloudflare, updated by ddclient ) I get 5-10% packet loss.

I've tried changing the TTL on the DNS records to 1 day, that made no difference.

Does anyone have any idea why this may be?

Thanks

you verified the FQDN is actually pointing to your ip and not some redirect service?

Same issue here, when using my IP address the monitor is nice and smooth, low latency and no packet loss.
Replacing it with FQDN (both freedns and noip services) returns 2-5% packet loss and massive increase on the latency.

The interesting thing is that sometimes (at random times, not related to the time of day or traffic load) I have had the graph returning to normal even with the FQDN name. It would point to an issue with BQM's process and not my end of the link?
