Do the BQM packets hit my router or just the modem?

[link to this post]

I’m trying to troubleshoot an issue with Virgin broadband and I’m trying to rule out the router as the issue. When the router is connected and the hub is in modem mode I get a fairly inconsistent connection and disconnections, not just visible as red lines and high latency on the BQM graph but also actual disconnects that las a few minutes. Now I’ve disconnected the router and put the hub in router mode my BQM “seems” more stable although it’s only been in router mode for a few hours,

Here’s two BQMs in modem mode and. router mode

In router mode the Virgin Hub is responding to the BQM. In modem mode the Virgin Hub passes the BQM queries to your router.

My Hub 3 is in modem mode and so BQM is pinging my router. I see very little difference.
Depending on your router make it may be assuming the BQM is a threat and blocking it.

The IP address will change if you go to between, and you will need to enable the allow pings feature in the Virgin Hub if you want to get rid of that red colour.

Erm.. if it's modem mode not working you need to allow it on whatever you use a router, not hub?

I read that the red BQM was with the Virgin Hub in router mode, it appears I have that backwards smile

Or the IP address has changed and the BQM is pinging someone else.
