Picked this up from a post in the AAISP sub-forum, where it was a presumption on DDOS.
Subsequently had a look at my own connections, and found precisely the same artefact from approx. 12:30pm to 12:55pm. No noticeable packet loss or other issues.
Without casting aspersions, the common denominator is most likely our good friends here at TBB towers and their FB device and/or network connections. So this is a curiosity more than anything else from me.
Have folks seen similar on their BQM today?

Exactly the same same here on Zen CityFibre

Yup... but I'm with IDNet on FTTC!

Same here with Unchained. I also have monitoring from f8lure and that is flat, so seems to be just an issue with Thinkbroadband's BQM.

Guessing the issue was on TB network as I seen this as well from my BT FTTP.

Got the latency blip on a Vodafone BQM, nothing on an Exponential-E one

Thanks. Interesting about the latter. Must have a different peering arrangement.

Thanks for all the update everyone 👍

Same blip on Giganet

And then another short but pronounced blip at about 09:45.

Not seeing that one here... different routing perhaps?

So far, am only seeing the midday blip yesterday and the early morning, 05:30-ish blip today. Something weird on some routes into TBB going on.

I have a monitor on a Plusnet FTTC and a Virgin Media DOCSIS connection, and another one on an OVH VPS (in French data centre). No sign of the blips.

Cheers. In a similar vein to @jpm above with his Exponential-E service which didn’t see the blips.
Must be a difference in peering that’s highlighting the presence of the blips for some but not others.

Another 05:30-ish blip... I wonder what the morrow will bring?

Visible here too. Very odd. Too periodic to be coincidental.
Might ask @seb if he's seen this, as it appears to be affecting a wide slice of connections from all manner of providers going to / from their BQM boxes.

Good idea. It doesn't seem to be causing any significant issues, but it shouldn't be there and it would be nice to see it gone.
|
|
|

Agreed. Can see no packet loss etc. However it's just not right, so best that TBB are aware something is awry.
|
|
|
I mentioned this in TTTS but I think it's related to a backup that happens. We have a port-channel that's congesting one of the links due to the hash algorithm and I have a feeling this is causing the latency. We will check.

Looks clear, so far...

Yup
Got an solid 2-hour red splodge about 20 mins after your post, but I can't blame tbb for power cuts

Looks like John's sorted the underlying issue.

...supposed to be windy this weekend; prepare for more power cuts 😬

...supposed to be windy this weekend; prepare for more power cuts 😬 I had a text from SSEN about that (I'm on their "vulnerable" list) but I'm not far from Didcot power station and, afaik, it's all underground to my substation. It's wet weather that causes issues- the cable has developed pin-holes over the years, and if the groundwater level rises enough...
I'm not really anticipating any problems 🤞🤞🤞, but there's always a first time!

Mine has just recovered to what I had originally with Swish after showing an increase for a month or two.
