Virgin BQM results

[link to this post]

Hello,
I have been having Virgin broadband connection issues recently, mainly intermittent issues affecting Teams calls. I setup a BQM to monitor it, please could someone comment on if these results are an issue that should be looked at? In particular the frequent packet losses.

Thanks
James

Are you aware you can share a link directly to your BQM rather than screenshotting it and linking to an image sharing site?

It would also help I think to know if you are on Virgin Coax or Virgin Fibre as that could have significant bearing.

EDIT : Take a look at this thread in the Virgin Media board on this site. Especially look at the last post by jchamier who has a link to his live BQM - his today doesn't look much different to use so if you are on coax/docsis I would suggest it is probably pretty normal.

Sorry didn't realise could share direct link, here it is: Graph

I don't know the connection, it's supposed to be a 1gig connection. How do I check?

I' ll take a look at the suggested post.

Thanks
James

Your link didn't work for me - here is is in case others want to follow it Graph. When you are looking at your graph there should be an option to copy the link for the forums, that should work when pasting here.

On the main TBB site if you go to "Information and Data", "UK Broadband Map" then you can search for your postcode and on the right hand side select "Virgin Media Retail" - that then should give colour coded dots that should show what type of connection you have (there are 4 potential options).

Look at the “hub” you have been given, and look at the connections on the back.

With Gig1 service you will have either Hub 4 or Hub 5 in a coax area (most of the UK) or Hub 5x if you are in a FTTP area (either nexfibre or new build).

Your BQM doesn’t look bad to me. Which town/city/area are you in/near?

If you look at my BQM, I’m on the Hampshire/Surrey border, on coax cable with a Hub 3 and the M350 service. (350 Megabit). At 4am in my BQM you can see what looked like a problem!

Thanks for the help.

It looks to be a coax connection with a hub5. I'm in South East London.

With coax I would say the BQM is pretty normal - I seem to remember seeing worse posted here but most look pretty much like yours. I am not sure the BQM itself will be enough to prove to Virgin you have an issue.

Today's BQM looks to have had a couple of outages, last night about 10:30pm, and around 3pm this afternoon. If that is the sort of thing that is happening, get on to Virgin customer services, they can check your Hub logs remotely.

the yellow maximum latency otherwise does not look a problem, very typical for this type of connection.
