What has happened to my VM cable connection?

[link to this post]

I have had my VM Gig1 cable service for nearly 2 years now and it has been pretty faultless.

I run my SuperHub 5 in modem mode connected via cat6 to my GL-iNet Flint 2 router.

I upgraded Openwrt on the Flint2 2 weeks ago and ever since, i've got these thick yellow bars and sporadic packet loss. Packet loss which at times is disrupting teams calls and live TV streaming.

In modem mode, I don't get the packet loss but the bars are thicker.

Is it jitter? On the BQM up to the first big red bar the connection is running in router mode on the SH5. Everything after is my Flint. The red bars are me messing about with firmware versions.

I am on Docsis over RFoG and the modem side isn't really highlighting any issues. Power levels and errors seem fine.

The fact that this happened after you upgraded OpenWRT is a smoking gun.

Is it possible to regress the change and see what happens?

Changing router or going back to the Super Hub 5 removes the packet loss.

The thick yellow bands of latency that were not there before are still present, no matter the device.

I will dig out a screenshot of my BQM pre upgrade and SH5 power off.

Ooops that didn't work.

I'll upload a screenshot as I cannot seem to create a link for a previous day on my BQM.

VM BQM pre router upgrade

Above is my VM BQM when I was running Openwrt 24.10.6.

The yellow bands were not present and it does not matter what device I use now, they’re present. Is that jitter because the connection is not busy?
