Very likely your ISP was doing some backhaul work so temporary routed you and many others through a different location adding the additional time to the ping.

Edit: was referring to the period 01:00 to 3.30 (ish)

One of the features I want to get out soon is automatic traceroutes when latency changes/and/or every hour or something like that.. obviously that only works from our end so return path.
