[link to this post]

Hello all

Was on 1Mbps with BT before Dad phoned BT about the new deal from CarPhoneWarehouse. Quicker than he could say "I hear it's free", they offered him

what are you synced at now that you are getting 500kbit downsteam rates? you might want to give the feedback form thats posted in a sticky here a try.

~*Edit* The feedback form seems to have been taken down*~

Thanks for the reply.

Currently? 3744kpbs. Far above what we're actually seeing.

PS How do you get them to turn off interleave?

if you forgive me for saying, but this forum has grown in to a mess of people posting endless "how I think MAX works" ponderings and only a few useful threads are buried 5 or 6 pages down.
Even then, there's only vague mentions of how to get through to a UK support centre as opposed to the Indian one

Typing "bt max speed cap" or "stuck bra"(!) gives no useful results. The only clear useful thread, Mr Saffron's feedback form, has become defunct because BT apparently don't read them anymore (!???!)

~*On topic*~
I sent a complaint from the "My Account" help section on BT Yahoo's site. Threw in info about the sync rate (though, whether the person reading it will understand a word of it....!). I'd prefer not to have to deal with phoning the scriptmonkeys at the call centre.

I tried the complaints avenue too - all I got was a reply via email from the same "script monkeys".

Good luck.

Oh god, seems these "script monkeys" are everywhere in BT!

I might chance phoning them, if only to further lose faith in humanity(!)

As I pointed out above, now our line shows up as only 1.5Mbps capable on speed checkers (eg samknows) where once it was 2.5Mbps- 3Mbps

I've trawled down a forum page or three and so far nothing useful.

Anyone know what we should do to get our speed back? Any super secret contacts numbers for BT that get your past Lvl 1 Script monkeys?!

You will always get fluctuations in speed - it depends upon the time of day and how many other users are active that you are contending with. If you see low speeds whatever time of day then I woud contact support. As I said - good luck !!.

I just called Bt and they told me its completely normal for this to happen until the 10th day after activation when the line speed will be set !!

How can it be normal for the speed to drop so much when i was already getting 1.8mb download speeds on my old service and now down to 0.5mb !!!

Anyway he said theres nothing he can do until after the 10th day and i should expect the speed to be up and down until 16th july. Just hope hes right because its been consistently been 0.5mb for over 18 hours now :-(
