Total Broadband Query

[link to this post]

I currently use Pipex and with all their bad press at present was think ing of shifting away for a better deal elsewhere. BT TB sounds interesting, how many LAN ports does the hub have as I have at least 3 devices that need to be connected with a cable. I currently use as Netgear DG834G ADsl Modem/Router, could this be used instead of the hub or is the hub required for this service?

I am curious about Max as I currently get my 1MB service just as I have a 59db line loss and SNR hovering anywhere between 8 and 20db. WOuld I gain anything from MAx or am I best staying on a fixed speed service.

The only downside of their package I see is the download limit could be set higher....

Pipex 1MB ADSL - 963 down / 247 up
MTU 1430

hi in response to a couple of your questions:

you only get 2 RJ45 ports on a home hub so a small switch costing around a tenner would sort out your extra needs.

you could use your current netgear modem/router to access the broadband but if you have the voip talk feature you will need a extra box to connect a dect phone to your netgear around

You don't have to use the home hub, in fact with your long line I would not recommend using it as it has a very poor modem inside.

What package was you looking at, if you are going to be using the hub phone you will need to use the home hub, but if your not going for option 3 or don't mind not using the hub phone I would keep the netgear for now. I have switched back to my linksys in the mean time as well. Keep checking this forum for updates on the home hub as well.
