130kbs normal for 3 days in training period?!?

[link to this post]

I recently moved home and registered for BT Broadband option 3. My Account was activated last Friday and I installed the BT Hub on Sunday. My Bt Home Hub connections details are as follows:

Broadband connection details:
Downstream 6,400 Kbps
Upstream 448 Kbps

For the first day (Sunday) I achieved download speeds in excess of 4 Mbs. However since Monday the down speed had dropped enormously and the BT Speedtest now shows an IP profile of 130kbs. I called BT Broadband and they say that since I'm in the 10-day testing period this is normal and I should wait.

Is it really normal to be stuck at 130kbs FOR THREE DAYS in the testing period?!?? Any help/advice greatly appreciated. Thanks!

no its not normal - but your pretty much stuck waiting out the training period as even if you do manage to get them to do anything about it, its gonna take them just aslong to actually do it.

i had a similar speed issue in the 10day training when i connected it was flying and then disappeared faster than it came. mine did stablise and even now 8 weeks in i'm still trying to get a speed issue resolved on my line which seems to be around the 500-750kbps.

adsl max in my opinion is not fully sorted yet.

Thanks for your reply. 10 Mbs NTL broadband is available in my area. If this BT BS continues until the end of my 10 day stabilization period, as is likely, I'll cancel the service. I just can't afford to waste any more time hitting a brick wall when speaking to those people in India. I just got off the phone with another Indian tech support guy, and got a completely different set of BS answers. Additionally the guy wanted me to delete my cookies and do other stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with my IP profile getting stuck at 135 kbs.

BTW, How many days does it take for NTL broadband cable to be activated once the order is submitted?

We are getting ours in 2 weeks time, an engineer for two hours as he has to lay the cable from the path etc...and you don't have to have the phone line anymore...

One week withour the internet......I dont the we will be able to cope.

Hope you get your line sorted out

How did you get an engineer to come out?

I've had '8mb' broadband for 3 weeks now, which runs at 130kbps about 4 or 5 times an hour. BT told me that I'd get 5.4mbps, which I do, but only once in a blue moon!

(We don't have cable where we are, unfortunately)
