ahhhhhh i hate this!!!

been happy on a 6 snr profile... in the evenings ittd drop to say 3 and resync maybe twice a night which is no real problem. now its suddeny decided to set it to 12 and i keep getting disconnected every few minutes, every time the snr varies say to 11 or 13 ittl reconnect had 20 so far!!!! whyyyyy!?!?!? its so pathetic and sync speed is [censored] now

I have a similiar problem and there doesn't seem to be much that can be done about it short of going back to a fixed rate product...

its got worse!!! lost 3mb now and its on a 16db snr margin

Unplug your equipment and plug it in later, it will only make it worse leaving it plugged in.

This is BT wholesales equipment trying to make your line slower changing the SNR margin and slowing it down by doing so.

Is there any reason why BT wholesales is doing so? Avoiding cross-talk? Or just squeezing in more customers into the same IP pipe while blaming a "bad line"?

The more I read about Max-DSL the more I like my classic, fixed DSL line. Only 1Mbit/s but at least it works ...

As the SNR is raised the speed goes down as well, the higher SNR can make your line and connection stable again. Likewise with interleaving it slows the line but makes it stable. So interleaving is used to make it stable as is the SNR. IT is the same everywhere in the world.

basically the higher the SNR the slower the connection but it becomes rock solid stable and eventually the exchange equiptment reading your rock solid stable line will begin to reduce the SNR untill your line becomes flakey again, it is possible to use the DMT tool to tweak the SNR to a level that gives you best possible speed and stability, my long line gave me 4.5 meg on first synch then resynched a couplke of times raising the SNR to 16 and the synch to 3200 just shy of the magic 3500 to get me a 3.5 meg BRAS, i used the DMT tool to tweak the SNR at my end down to 9.5 and resynched the router and it lept to 3700ish giving me the magic 3.5 meg BRAS, it has been mostly stable since over 10 days i have had 2 resynchs one to 3600 ish wich was fine kept me in the step and then one really strange one down to 256k however the ADSL had gone down on the line, i simply resynched the HUB with the DMT tool and it lept back to my 3700 is mark and stayed stable again, dont know if blip logic has kicked in as been unable to get the new speed test to work to give me my BRAS settingsd but had to download and update last night and it looked like i was getting good speeds forgot to check tbh.

but its become rock solid i presume...
